Typically, the times I've been told "no substitutions" is when I had a super rude server. There have been a few times where the server was nice about it, and that's fine, but it just seems like most of the time they just want to be a*holes.Lizhttp://www.odetoawe.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1402048251000904668.post-39967371098482268182011-07-11T16:38:43.591-04:002011-07-11T16:38:43.591-04:00Yeah, without knowing what their pantry is like an...Yeah, without knowing what their pantry is like and how their ordering process goes, I couldn't comment one way or another. Could just be them being snotty, could be they'll run out of lamb burger toppings for the lamb burgers.

We certainly shan't have that at Jeremy Cooks Whatever the Fuck He Wants...of course that's because there will be only a fixed menu of an evening.Jeremy Rosenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06424263558149010481noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1402048251000904668.post-64060355460852568932011-07-11T16:23:14.162-04:002011-07-11T16:23:14.162-04:00Oh, I definitely realize sometimes there are legit...Oh, I definitely realize sometimes there are legitimate reasons restaurants cannot change certain menu items.

But sometimes I really can't imagine a logical reason behind their refusal...
like Bareburger, which said they cannot not serve the "lamb burger" toppings on a veggie burger for me. Why? I don't know. It's just toppings: cucumber, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, and tzatziki. It shouldn't be any harder for them to put that on top of a veggie patty than it is for them to put the numerous other topping combinations they do allow on the veggie patty. But they told me it's "not available for the veggie burger".Ali - YumVeggieBurgerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16024423498995826598noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1402048251000904668.post-13263879841223390592011-07-11T16:07:09.180-04:002011-07-11T16:07:09.180-04:00Having worked food service for most of a decade be...Having worked food service for most of a decade before sitting my ass in an office chair, I have to say that the "no substitutions" thing is not usually something that comes out of thin air.

There's no need for anyone to be impolite to customers about it. If they have been I'm not defending that.

However, there are definitely legitimate issues of food preparation and availability. Substitutions, depending on the type of restaurant and cuisine, can very much damage the availability of standard menu items throughout an evening.Jeremy Rosenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06424263558149010481noreply@blogger.com
